Samsung has officially announced the wallet-friendly Galaxy J2, which is the successor of the well-received Galaxy J. Readers can check out the key configuration details, along with the price and release date of the new device.

As far as the Samsung Galaxy J2 specifications go, GSM Arena said that the handset comes with a pocket-friendly 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display, packed with qHD (540 x 960 pixels) screen resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 3475 chip, in combination with a quad-core processor, clocked at 1.3 GHz and backed by 1 GB of RAM. On the software front, Android 5.1 Lollipop OS runs the show.

When it comes to camera configuration, the Galaxy J2 apparently sports a modest 5-megapixel rear-facing sensor and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies. There is also a 2,000 mAh battery unit to keep the lights on. Apart from the standard connectivity options, this smartphone comes with 4G LTE and dual-SIM support.

Furthermore, the J2 features a one-of-a-kind Ultra Data Saving Mode. This new mode has apparently been developed in Samsung’s R&D facility located in India. As it turns out, this mode was developed keeping regional needs in mind. The Galaxy J2 users can enable the Ultra Data Saving Mode to save up to 50 percent on the data plan. In addition, it will also free up to 11 percent of the RAM usage. To top it all off, the handset’s stand-by time can be doubled by using this mode.
