Will we soon see the next iPhone? That’s a yes, if reports that production of the next-generation iPhone will begin sometime this month, culiminating in a late September or early October release, are to be believed.
According to Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek, Apple will begin production of the iPhone 5S at the end of the July with an announcement and release slated for the fall. Add this to reports that Foxconn is on a hiring spree to keep up with iPhone production and you’ve got all signs pointing to a new iPhone real soon.
Misek also expects shipments for the fall quarter to number between 25 million and 30 million iPhones, with the holiday quarter bringing between 50 million and 55 million units shipped.
Reports indicate the next iPhone will arrive with a faster processor, a better camera, dual flashes, and possibly a fingerprint scanner.
Unfortunately (for some), the design of the phone is expected to stay the same, with all of the changes coming under the hood and and in the OS.
